Fences 2 - Behind the Fence

From Series: "FENCES - Love Series, Part 2"
When asked what the greatest commandment is, Jesus says that we are to love God with everything we are. His hearers nodded their heads in agreement, but Jesus went on, giving them a second answer to their one question: love your neighbor as yourself. He said these two commandments go together, summarizing all the Law and the Prophets. In fact, Jesus says that if we love him, we’ll keep his command to love each other. But what does loving our neighbor look like? We’ve all heard the saying, “good fences make good neighbors.” Coming from a day when a fence kept my neighbor’s cow out of my garden, there’s definitely truth here. We need to have a healthy sense of boundaries in our relationships. But sometimes, the boundaries disrupt or prevent relationships. Sometimes, unhealthy fences need to come down. In this series we’ll look at Jesus’ command to love our neighbors and consider all of its claims on us. We’ll also seek to encourage experiments in neighboring and loving others, finding tangible ways to live out what Jesus says matters most.
