Jesus came to be close to us, to be with us. By the Holy Spirit, he remains present with us at all times and in all places. The question is – will we recognize him or will we miss him? And how do we get better at recognizing Jesus in our lives?

At Christmas, we celebrate God’s greatest gift to us - the incarnation, the miraculous truth that God has taken on flesh and moved into the neighborhood. Jesus’ birth and life on earth reveals something that always has and always will be true - that God longs to be present with us in relationship. At Threads, our shared practice of Presence invites us to cultivate a relationship of attentiveness and responsiveness to God. We do this through specific disciplines that help us to make space in our lives to listen and engage our ever-present God. Especially at this time of year - with its blur of lights, activity and noise - we need to learn how to be present with the God who is present with us.
