Metaphor, Mission and Means

The Metaphor – who we are…

Threads is a metaphor for God weaving our lives together in authentic, biblical community as a part of the masterpiece God is making out of the lives of His people. When a master artist weaves together threads of diverse colors and textures, they are transformed into something beautiful. Each individual is important and valuable and each of our lives has the potential to add richness to this masterpiece. What God is doing in each of our lives is incredible – what He is doing as He weaves us together into a family is even more amazing!

The Mission – why we exist…

We exist to help a questioning world become passionate “love God, love others” Christ followers.

The Means – how we will get there…

Threads is a local expression of the Body of Christ, guided and empowered by the Holy Spirit to be the hands and feet of Jesus in this particular place. God is revealing Himself and is bringing His kingdom into the world through us, as imperfect as we are at reflecting His image and pursuing His purposes.

The way we seek to faithfully participate in God’s mission in the world is through three primary areas:

Shared Practices – conforming our lives and our life together to the pattern of life we see in Jesus.

Simple Structures – ordering our life together in meaningful ways to represent the multi-dimensional life of the Kingdom

Worship Gatherings – simple, responsive gatherings where the whole family comes together to worship God for who He is and all He has done, is doing and will do for us. Celebrate and be transformed as we encounter one another and the living God through Word and Spirit.

Missional Communities – smaller families within the larger Threads family that orient around a specific mission (i.e. providing food, supporting students and staff at a school). These groups have an intentional rhythm of mission, formation and celebration.

CPR groups – groups of 2-4 individuals who commit to continuously speaking the gospel to each other, reminding each other of who God is and what He’s done for us even as we seek to navigate the daily joys and struggles of our lives.

Multiplication at Every Level – Reproducing Christ-like individuals, leaders, missional communities and churches.
